Overview
The shunt out of Blenheim (BLEN) CT for domestic customers (V1F) has a limited weight capacity. Loaded wine tanks sent by Team Global Express (TGE) have to be single loaded on trailers due to weight restrictions on wagons. Each day we will check the stow and ensure the shunt is not overbooked/overweight.

Details
TGE’s loaded wine tanks (LXPs) can each weigh up to 29 ton maximum (gross weight). An I class wagon can only hold 56 ton maximum and a trailer can only accommodate 43 ton maximum. As a result, we cannot pair load wine tanks on a wagon. Any 20’s or 25’s that can be paired with a wine tank must not exceed a gross weight of 15 ton. However, weight restrictions are not reflected in the space availability consist.  As customers can book through the portal utilising the space consist it can cause PV1F to be overweight and can result in reductions. It is the domestic team’s responsibility to manage the space for customers and advise them of any rail booking issues. Each day we will use CTMS’s query stow plan function to ensure freight ex Blenheim is optimised. If the shunt is overweight we will have to roll the non-priority freight to the next available and advise any customers impacted.

Process/Tasks
Tonnage ex BLEN CT                                                                                                   1200 Monday – Friday

  1. Open the query stow plan in CTMS and view today’s PV1F
  2. Check how many wine tanks are booked between (net 23T-26T) 26T – 29T (gross weight) and that this is equal to the wagon consist.
  3. Count up how many tanks can be paired (anything less than 15T gross)
  4. Confirm with ferry build what is possible.
  5. If overbooked/overweight then roll anything that is not considered priority to the next available service and send affected customers a delay notification – “Due to overweight service the below has been reduced” and advise ferry build.
